Rancher’s K3S Kubernetes Distribution Joins CNCF Sandbox

Rancher’s K3S, a lightweight Kubernetes distribution for resource-constrained environments such as edge deployments, has joined the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) at the sandbox level. 

As The New Stack reports, K3S packages all of the non-containerized Kubernetes components into a single 40MB binary with the only dependencies being “a sane kernel and cgroup mounts needed."
