Chinese Supercomputers Reach Exascale Performance

Two Chinese supercomputers have broken the exascale performance barrier, putting China ahead of the United States in the exascale supercomputing race, reports Nicole Hemsoth.

The two systems (Sunway “Oceanlite” and Tianhe-3) reportedly reached 1.3 exaflops peak performance with enough sustained performance to be functionally exascale per the LINPACK benchmark back in March of 2021. China, however, has not published official test results.
