Global Privacy Control Initiative Announced

The newly announced Global Privacy Control (GPC) specification aims to make it easier for consumers to exercise their "Do not sell" rights.

According to the press release, the GPC signal is not yet a finalized standard, but it is available to users as part of several major browsers and extensions. In this initial phase, users can download “browsers and extensions from Abine, Brave, Disconnect, DuckDuckGo, and EFF in order to communicate their "do not sell or share" preference to participating publishers.”

With this mechanism in place, rather than clicking individual links across websites, “you can exercise your rights in one step via the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which is required under the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) and Europe’s Global Data Protection Regulation (GDPR),” the website states.
