Intel Itanium Code Orphaned in Linux Kernel

Linux creator Linus Torvalds has merged a patch designating the Intel Itanium code as “Orphaned,” indicating that it’s time kernel developers focused their efforts elsewhere.   

Orphaning code is often the first step toward its eventual removal from the kernel, which will likely happen to the Itanium code unless someone is interested in maintaining it, reports Mayank Sharma.
