Key Developer Leaves Perl Core, Citing Community Hostility

A key Perl Core developer known as Sawyer X announced his intention to leave the three-person Perl Steering Council, the Perl security list, as well Perl Core because of perceived community hostility, reports Thomas Claburn. 

Claburn also notes the importance of camaraderie and acceptance among contributors in regard to the health of open source projects, saying “If Sawyer X's sentiments about the Perl world are shared by others, it's not a good sign to the language's longevity.”
