Open Source Chip Program Expanded

Google has partnered with chip fabrication company, SkyWater Technology, on an open source chip technology program with funding from the U.S. Department of Defense, reports Dan Robinson.

SkyWater has received funding to develop open source design capabilities for its 90nm production process, and Google will provide the compute resources and other expertise to realize the project, Robinson says. The program is intended to boost chip innovation and  increase production for custom chip designs.
