Rust and the Road to Linux Development

You used to need to know C in order to be a Linux developer. Now, however, the Rust programming language can let you be an operating system programmer as well, says Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols.

How Rust fits into Linux is a big question, though, and one that will take time to shake out. Senior Linux kernel developer Greg Kroah-Hartman says "drivers are probably the first place for an attempt like this as they are the 'end leaves' of the tree of dependencies in the kernel source.”
